Abstract
This article, based on historical evidence, establishes the etymology of apostolic anthroponyms. Christ's disciples had their own family (patrimony) name, an Aramaic pseudonym, and a Greek translation. All the apostles were given Aramaic anthroponyms, as this was the language used for international communication in the Middle East at that time. The anthroponym Jesus also has Aramaic origins.
