THE ROLE OF THE JANISSARY CORPS IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE IN THE XV – XVIII CENTURIES

Abstract
The article examines the history of the creation of the Janissary corps, the specifics of the system of its formation and recruitment, as well as the role of the Janissary troops in the military and domestic political events of the Ottoman Empire in the XV - XVIII centuries. The article contains a study of the contribution of the activities of the Janissary corps in the domestic and foreign policy events of the Ottoman Empire. The article reveals the importance of the Janissary corps for the development of the Ottoman Empire in the XV - XVIII centuries – in that historical period when the state reached its highest power.
