INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF PROCESS WATER TEMPERATURE ON THE DETECTION OF DEFECTS IN METAL DURING IMMERSION ULTRASONIC TESTING

Abstract
The problem of the influence of the temperature of the working fluid on the sensitivity of ultrasonic immersion testing is considered.
The dependence of the amplitude of the echo signal from a through hole of 3 mm in the sample (cube 50x50x50 in size) on the temperature of process water, which was used as a contact medium for immersion ultrasonic testing, was established.
The dependence of the drop in the readings of the depth gauge on a through hole of 3 mm and the amplification of the ultrasonic flaw detector UD2-102VD relative to the rejection level are given.
The article presents photographs of the experiment, which show the change in the amplitude of the echo signal from the defect and the readings of the depth gauge of the flaw detector UD2-102VD with a change in the temperature of process water.
