Abstract
A short review of historical sources on the industrial use of vibratory cutting for the processing of hard-to-work steels was assembled. The dominant parameters affecting tool life are indicated. A mathematical model of the process of vibrational cutting is presented. Prospects of application of vibrating cutting for processing parts from heat-resistant and stainless steels of carbide and austenitic classes are indicated.
