Abstract
The article analyzes the modern role of the state in the economy, dependence between extent of intervention of the state and level of economic development of the country on the example of China and South Korea. Characterized role of the state through the Index of Economic Freedom and the Fragile States Index, considered the method of calculation of these indexes.
