GENIZAH OF CHUFUT-KALE

Abstract
Uniqueness of caves as historical artifacts is that there is a probability to trace stages of their use. The matter is that walls of rocky constructions store traces of modifications. Such cave which was initially used as a chapel, church became an object of our research, and became the shelter for the cattle later, and, eventually – genizah, that is the cult cemetery of books.
