AbstractCreated a program for the study of self-gravitating gas flows through the potential well of the spiral arm of the Galaxy. It is concluded that the galactic shock wave (GSW) is the initiator of the development of thermal and gravitational instability, leading to the fragmentation of the flow into individual clouds; front of the GSW is not solid, in the flow can simultaneously coexist with the area of the shock wave and the region with the accretionary front. Keywords: accretion front, galactic shock wave, hydrodynamics, interstellar medium, spiral galaxies
