Abstract
This article analyzes the representation of the body in 20th-century philosophy, where the body is viewed as one of the key forms in historical understanding. Based on the philosophical approach author of the article makes attempts to show the history of European culture through the prism of physicality. Special attention is paid to the static and dynamic bodies that characterize a human of an appropriate cultural epoch. Modern social and cultural situation is presented in details in which the cult of the body reflects the human desire to escape from history and reality.
