Abstract
The article presents the impact of the international standards in the field of tourism services on the Russian tourism formation. It refers to the international institutions that had formed the general standards in the field of tourism services, the basic government standards in the field of Russian tourism as well as historical factors that influenced their creation. According to the author’ opinion, the conformity of the national tourism industry criteria with the international tourism standards is the key to its positive dynamic development.
