Abstract
The article presents the results of the analysis of the Russian banking sector and its lending activity in the period from 2008 to 2015. The study addressed the following objectives: identified the general trends and issues in the bank lending to businesses in Russia, evaluated the activity of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in terms of creating conditions for the realization of the strategy of import substitution.
