Abstract
Today the assessment of student’s knowledge is one of the main tools for monitoring the quality of education. Teachers everyday monitor learning activities, evaluating oral answers of students and their written works. Pedagogical control is an essential component of the educational process. Nowdays there are more new means of assessment of learning outcomes and one such tool is the portfolio. This article will consider the concept of the portfolio, its types, sections and functions, and the teacher's role in the making student’s portfolio.
