AbstractIn this article a critical analysis of the elementary theory of the Michelson-Morley experiment has been done and the errors in this theory have been found. The correct calculation of the path difference of the rays of light in the interferometer has been done. Also the methodological errors in the Michelson-Morley experiment, whereby detection of the ether wind in this experiment was not possible, have been found. The technique, which can reveal the orbital motion of the Earth by the interferometer, has been suggested. A general conclusion about the fallacy of the grounds for withdrawal of the Lorentz transformations has been done. Keywords: elementary theory of the Michelson-Morley experiment, ether wind, Lorentz contraction of length, Lorentz transformations, methodology of the Michelson-Morley experiment, Michelson interferometer
