Abstract
In the formation of innovation-oriented model of the Russian economy, radically changed the conditions for the functioning of universities, especially state. Universities tend to be popular and modern, resistant to new market conditions, to work ahead. This is impossible without the formation and development of new functions of higher education. The article presents the analysis of the functions of higher education institutions of paramount importance in modern conditions.
