Abstract
The essence of the state regulation of social and economic development at the regional level was revealed in the article. The approaches of different areas of economic science representatives to the determination of the state’s role in social and economic development regulation were investigated. The necessity of increasing the role of public authorities in the regional social and economic systems regulation was grounded.
