Abstract
We study parenting as a sociocultural phenomenon, its importance in the life orientations of the Russians. Determined by national models of parental behavior of the Russian people, their traditional features and innovative changes. Particular attention is placed on the study of the crisis of parenthood in contemporary Russian society. It also discusses possible ways to overcome it.
