Magtymguly Pyragy’s poems have an incomparable influence on the human soul. They give a person the spiritual strength to think, to think about the future, past and present, to analyze their own qualities and to find their place in life, to grow into patriotic youth.

In 2014, the 290th birth anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy, the great thinker and classic poet of the Turkmen people, was widely celebrated in accordance with the historic Decision of our Honourable Arkadag. A collection of selected works of Magtymguly was published with the efforts of our National Leader.

In the foreword of that collection, our Scientist Arkadag said: “…in the Turkmen land, poetic lines that excited the human soul like the pleasant coloyr of a fresh wind sounded. These words have been passed down from year to year, forming an unrepeatable spiritual unity that has united millions of hearts and continues to unite human hearts even today. That spiritual unity takes its origin from the poetic world of Magtymguly,” he says about the patriotic spirit of Magtymguly’s poems and the spiritual unity of the people, which is the main pillar of the patriotic school.

“The idea of patriotism in the work of the great poet connected him with the great masters who lived before him and those who continued his path, as well as his comrades who call themselves his descendants. These ideals embodied a warm, lofty and indomitable love for the Motherland.” [1, p. 5].

“Through love for the country, the poet opens the whole world for himself. This love is the sweet sound of his song, the meaning of his life, the main core of his poetry.”

“The poems of the wise poet quenched the thirsty human soul in his time like the long-awaited benevolent rain falling on the land parched by poverty and drought… All the treasures hidden at the bottom of the sea overflowed like a mighty wave thrown onto the shore… like, cleansed the path from past, bad and extraneous things, saved from distrust and panic, gave people confidence and courage, revealed the truth of life…” [1, p. 6] The artistic comparison of its power – the spiritual power in the purification and search of the human soul – is the search for patriotic feelings.

“In the poems of our exemplary poet, we do not express temporary impressions and emotions, but the results of intense, continuous thoughts about the Motherland, the dreams and hopes of the people living in this beautiful land, their compatriots and contemporaries whose life troubles left a heavy mark on the poet’s soul to live a better life.” [1, p. 7].

“A wise poet, a patriotic poet expressing the wishes of his people, a preacher, and encouraging and inspiring his people with his poems, directing them to the right path, not only confidently removing the foggy veil of the future and predicting, but also giving the Turkmen people pleasant visions, history. The immense talent of a visionary individual who has managed to make one see the endless expanses of creativity, self-development, building a happy future for the country, has lost all hope and is a jewel in the midst of self-transcendence and love, deep sorrow, excitement, silence, sadness and pride. The poet’s poems are equal to a jeweled sword in distinguishing between good and evil, and it is noted that before Magtymguly, there was no poet of the Turkmen people who reached such heights” [1, p. 7].

Many of the poems were turned into folk songs, the lines of which became proverbs and sayings firmly embedded in the lives of ordinary people.

The subtle and sharp expression of the feeling of the homeland has a real historical content in the poet’s work. By frequent use of clear similes and figurative, symbolic words, the poet reveals the essence of the reality of life, the connection between past events, past and future. Seeing that the world around us is not perfect in most cases, understanding its fundamental contradictions more deeply and widely than his contemporaries, the poet feels that he is responsible for the country, as it is impossible to leave his mother in a difficult moment, and strengthens his connection with the Motherland. In the poet’s love for the Motherland, pride and sorrow, intimacy and pain from the heart, the soldier’s readiness to give his sweet life for the dear land, and the philosopher’s sense of important and great reforms are united in one unity [1, p. 8].

Magtymguly’s invaluable service to history is not only that he expressed the spirit of the changing times of the country at the highest artistic level, but also that he was able to see the distant dawn that shines from behind the endless years, and that he created a song of confidence in the bright future. The poet was fully convinced that the time of happiness will surely come for the Turkmen people. At the behest of his heart, he was lighting the way to that long-awaited happiness, freedom, independence and prosperity.

In Magtymguly’s poems, the fates of the poet and Motherland cannot be separated from each other. This was a candle shining on the road to the future for the Turkmen people [1, p. 11].

It is Magtymguly who praised the greatness and patience, pride and generosity of his people, his love for freedom and determination in his poems, and opened his soul to the whole world in poetry. The poet praised his homeland in such a way that through his poems, readers living in different parts of the world accepted what was valuable to Magtymguly as their own treasures, loved our country, and wanted to get to know the Turkmen people more closely. The great thinker is the founder of the modern Turkmen state [1, p. 12]. It is a great example of patriotism to be a guardian of the country and a supporter of its progress.

Magtymguly’s poetry is multifaceted and his works are studied in many ways: literary heritage, language of poetry, historical roots, philosophy, society and education. In these fields, scientists of the country and their foreign colleagues are conducting a number of scientific activities.

To study on a scientific basis Magtymguly Pyragy, the great thinker and classical poet of the East, who is part of the golden treasure of world literature, the world of philosophy in his poems, the great influence he had on the Turkmen life in the 18th-19th centuries on a scientific basis, his poetry of the Turkmen people and the entire East. In order to reveal his inseparable connection with cultural life through modern digital technologies, to draw the attention of the international scientific and literary community to the world of poetry, and to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy’s birth at the international level, on February 12, 2021, “The Great Sage of the East”, the Resolution on celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classical poet Magtymguly Pyragy was signed. According to the document, the program of events to be held to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy, the great thinker and classical poet of the East, was approved. According to that plan, scientific conferences and creative meetings dedicated to the poetry of the Turkmen thinker Magtymguly Pygary were widely spread in different parts of the country.
