AbstractFollowing the economic depression during the 1870s in the American West, the Chinese workers had been turned into scapegoats of the economic crisis, hostility to Chinese even more firmly established. This strategy served to maintain the ideology of the time, according to which the burden of responsibility on the business community and associated economic problems, had to be switched on a racial group, moral attacks against which would be justified by attributing this group a responsibility for a wide range of problems.Keywords: black, Chinese, cocaine, drug, female, marijuana, racial
