CONCEPTUALIZATION OF THE FACE IN EVERYDAY JAPANESE CULTURAL CONTEXT

Abstract
The hypothesis of the persistent nature of the Japanese role finds its theoretical roots in cultural anthropology and sociolinguistics. The conducted research allows to conclude that the Japanese are very sensitive not only to their own social role or social position, but also to social ranking, they also indicate that concerns for one's own social role prescribe the effect of social status on how the Japanese perceive their own faces. Some researchers focus their own attention on the Japanese word bun, which means the part or component, in order to illustrate the determination of the Japanese to occupy a fitting place in the world. According to the reviews the conceptualization of the person in a particular culture under the influence of cultural values and ethos, it makes sense to say that a solid commitment to their own social position has become a fundamental component of the Japanese concept of face. One’s own sense of social status or social role in a given situation as dictated by social conventions, is practically manifested in the adopted Japanese-culture facial expressions.
