Abstract
Reading scientific and technical literature without the translation is considered in the article as a way of improving the efficiency of foreign language learning in non-linguistic higher education institution. The basis for effective use of reading without the translation recognized solid knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and lexical and grammatical combinations. It is emphasized that the way to special scientific and technical literature understanding without the translation is through analytical (training) reading.
