Abstract
Biopolymers are biologically compatible with the human body, but their hydrolytic stability (resistance to hydrolytic degradation) under normal conditions, their hydrophobicity, no chemical functionality is not allow their use in biomedicine. To extend their use it is important to improve the mechanical properties, amphiphilicity, surface functionality, the rate of degradation, crystallization. One approach to solving this problem is the chemical modification of biopolymers that is the introduction into their structure of new functional groups. This changes the functionality of the polymer film, and makes it possible to further use in biomedicine.
