Abstract
This article discusses ways to address the integrity of mental activity in the writings of I.M. Sechenov. Resolution of issues of unity and diversity of mental activity I.M. Sechenov connect with overcoming the traditional gap between the mental processes. He set up that thinking is not a separate function of the brain, developing independently, but that mental activity is a unified system of mental activity. It is shown the crucial role of systematic knowledge in the development of productive thinking.
