Abstract
The paper provides an overview of the main technologies of the fourth generation wireless communications (4G). The most important characteristics of 4G networks are presented and data transmission methods in these networks are described. The advantages and disadvantages of the fourth generation standards LTE and WiMAX are defined. The main trends in the development of 4G networks are presented.
