Abstract
The paper describes genetic variability in commercial and rare gene pool sheep herds. The results have been generated by molecular genetic techniques with application of labeled probe. Analysis has been conducted using computer programs for DNA fragment visualization and calculation of genetic population parameters in breeds and populations. It has been demonstrated that commercial sheep breed Texel is characterized by low genetic variability by the criteria of mean heterozygosity.
