Abstract
The article deals with an impotant issue – the means of expressing the emotive component of a text by syntactic stylistic devices. The issue has always been a subject of a linguistic research. It attracts attention of many linguists nowadays. In this article the potential capabilities of syntax to express emotions in a text are under analysis. Syntactical stylistic devices of the novel by a British writer Julian Barnes “Sense of an Ending” are the object of the linguistic analysis.
