Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of classification of fantasy genre and studying its subtypes. The authors consider various classifications created by both foreign and domestic linguists each of whom tried to find a common attribution of all works of fantasy genre. The undertaken study lets the authors deduce that it is impossible to create a universal classification due to diversity of genre subtypes.
