SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BIG BUSINESS IN UKRAINE: FREE WILL OR OBLIGATION?

Abstract
The research paper deals with the problem of social responsibility of big business in Ukraine in the context of transformations in the society and economy and the modern concept of corporate social responsibility. It is proved that the modern era is characterized by profound changes in social and economic sphere (formation of the state of a common welfare, development of post-industrial economy and knowledge economy, increase of weight of the human capital) that create new conditions in the market activity of the company. The analysis of activity of the modern large charitable corporate funds allows indentifying a number of problems in their activity (opacity, lack of social control, engagement) which the author relates to the underdeveloped civil society in Ukraine and accordingly low level of its expectations.
