Abstract
This article examines the protagonist role of the comedies of W. Congreve's "Double game". Shows the relationship of the English playwright with the Comedy French tradition of J.-B. Moliere, the similarity between Tartuffe and Proyd , determined by their common source – the image of the trickster. However, the distinction is emphasized national heroes-the trickster.
