AbstractThis article deals with the motivation of activity of students in the teaching of a foreign language in a technical high school. Successful learning of a foreign language in a high school depends on the consideration of factors such as the system of student attitudes, in relation to continuing education in general and self-assessment of their own capabilities. Identification and registration purposes, motives and interests of students allows us to understand the nature of their internal activity, selectively direct knowledge that creates a real opportunity to planned and systematic influence on the students by the teacher. Leading motives of learning activities students are professional, which also need to be considered when building a training strategy for the development of cognitive interests. Formation of cognitive orientation to learning a foreign language contributes to the organization of the educational process so that it stimulated the intellectual activity of students.Keywords: cognitive interest, communicative competence, foreign language, learning process, motivation, specialized education
