Abstract
The research lets us assert that certain translation methods of Russian infinite sentences in English language are determined by the following factors: the differences in syntax in both languages, the limited use of infinite constructions in English language and a great variety of the modal senses that can be evoked by the infinite sentences.

Keywords: adequate translation, infinitive, infinitive sentences, language modality, literal translation
