AbstractIn article celebration of one of the most important Islamic holidays - Eid al-Adha (a prayer, sacrifices, visit of cemeteries is considered and so forth) at the regional level - on Central Volga region in the 1940-1980th (number of the believers who were taking part in celebration and their quantitative dynamics, social and demographic characteristics of Muslims, actions of Muslim clergy, contents of sermons of mullahs, donations, etc.), is described a role of Spiritual management of Muslims of the European part of the USSR and Siberia, actions of the Soviet authorities for minimization of religious actions (precautionary conversations with attendants of a Muslim cult and believers, a direct ban, involvement of lecturers of society "Knowledge", etc.) are characterized; the specific moments of celebration in this region are analyzed (performance of a vow after war, arrivals on celebration of believers from the neighboring regions, etc.).Keywords: Central Volga region, Eid al-Adha, USSR
