AbstractThe adsorption of Co (II), Ni (II) and Cd (II) ions from water solutions using iron oxide nanoparticles of magnetite (Fe3O4) and maghemite (γ -Fe2O3) has been studied. Magnetite particles (magnetic sorbents) appeared to be very effective in removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. It was shown that Fe3O4 is a highly efficient sorbent for Co, Ni, and Cd, and this nanomaterial is more efficient to remove Cd (II) and Ni (II) than Co (II).
