Abstract
This publication describes the ways of service of the modern aviation and the analysis of its problems is made. It is offered an alternative to ground-based radars (radio detection and ranging) as ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast) technology is presented. Its main features, service systems, types of equipment and the advantages over ground-based radars are described. After analyzing the problems of the modern aviation it is proposed an attractive solution that is based on the gradual transition of all flights in Bulgaria and abroad to satellite-based avionics for surveillance the aircrafts.
