Abstract
The problem of German phraseological units studying at technical higher education institution is considered in the article. The reasons of difficulties in understanding of the texts containing phraseological units are allocated. As tasks of the teacher are noted: development of students' abilities to distinguish combinations specific to the studied language quickly, to understand them correct and to find compliances in the native language. Examples of free and not free phrases in German are given.
