Abstract
A number of negative political and economic factors affect the development of Russia’s system of cashless payments. The article deals with the role of the national payment system in cashless payments development. This issue has become very urgent since March 2014 when some political changes occurred in Russia. All the measures undertaken by the Russian Federation Central Bank and Russia’s legislative bodies and executive power aim at reaching the main goal of the national payment system – that is to ensure continuity, efficiency and availability of cashless payments, including card payments.
