Abstract
Historical and architectural and spatial environment of centers of small and medium-sized historic cities of the Penza region is a valuable object of research, both from a historical point of view and from an architectural. Each historical city has a rich history, reflecting the characteristic composition and landscape features of the environment. The historic enviroment of Serdobsk center is significantly destroyed and partially lost today. An important research goal is to identify the causes of degradation of the historical environment, the restoration of the lost compositions and extract the specifics of architectural and landscape qualities of the urban environment of historic town.
