Abstract
This article analyzes modern trends of development suburban areas in various countries. Particular attention is given to the qualities of the living environment that make living in the suburban area preferred and convenient. The analysis reveals common to cities processes and identify typical trends of development of suburbs to the capital and provincial cities in Russia.
