Abstract
Architectural and spatial environment of the centres of small and medium towns of the Penza region has a characteristic composition and landscape features for each stage of historical development. The historic environment of the Mokshan centre currently severely damaged and partially lost. To recreate the lost compositions and to learn from past experience the "spirit of place", the specifics of architectural and landscape and architectural and spatial qualities of the urban environment is an important research task.
