Abstract
In the article the problem of studying of foreign-language scientific and technical terminology in a historical context is considered. Theoretical and practical value of the term research as special word locates. The main significant historical moments are given in chronology of technical terminology development. Opinions of linguists on treatment of concept of the term, classification of terminological units are compared.
