Abstract
The article presents historiography of researches made by V.P. Tretyakov on early Neolithic of the area between Sura-Moksha, which were held by him from 1978 to 1984. As a result of researches, 10 Neolithic sites were digged out, periodization and chronology of the early Neolithic period were worked out, its cultural identity was determined.
