Abstract
The article discusses the innovative activity of the Smolensk region. There are ideas of enhancing the innovative activity of the region. Author concluded that for ensure the innovative development it is necessary to develop a program of innovative development of the Smolensk region until 2025, and actively use of the innovative potential of the higher school.
