THE FUNCTIONS OF THE BIBLICAL EUPHEMISM «LORD» IN VICTORIAN DISCOURSE

Abstract
The paper focuses on the cultural-linguistic analysis of the biblical euphemism Lord as a substitute for a direct denomination God in Victorian discourse. The novels of such Victorian authors as Bram Stoker, Emily Bront ë, Charlotte Brontë, George Moore, Wilkie Collins and Elizabeth Gaskell were used as input for the article.
