AbstractTectonic activity within some parts of the Russian Platform in the Neogene is yet to be fully understood. The shift of the marine sedimentation and the depocentre to the northeast of the Rostov Dome in the Pontian Age relatively to the precedent Maeotian Age can be explained by the local uplift in the northwestern part of the dome. These tectonic motions were determined, probably, by the faults, the activity of which was linked either to the development of the Caucasus or the factor of dynamic topography. Keywords: depocentre, fault, Neogene, Rostov Dome, uplift
