AbstractMineralogical composition of the sand fraction of the modern sediments of the small (length ~ 2 km) Lipoyj Stream (middle-height mountains of the Western Caucasus) flowing along the northern contact of the Dakh Crystalline Massif reflects the diversity of the denudated rocks. Roundness of some quartz grains indicates on recycling of the sedimentary matter (the Lower Jurassic sandstones or the Quaternary terrace deposits play the role of transitional collectors). Concentration of grains of garnet and unidentified green mineral in stream sediments results from differentiation of the clastic material. Keywords: grain concentration, modern sediments, small streams, transitional collectors, Western Caucasus
