AbstractThe article analyses the peculiarities of using Russian and English spatial prepositions determined by different conceptualization of spatial relations in the linguistic world-image of the two nations. The authors show how the differences in the semantics of Russian and English prepositions may be caused by different perception and, therefore, linguistic coding of the spatial scene.Keywords: cognitive linguistics, language picture of the world, spatial concepts, spatial prepositions, spatial relations
