AbstractThe aim of the article is the researching of the novel “King, Queen, Knave” by V. Nabokov from the point of view of play`s poetics. The article is proved that the game is an effective method of Nabokov`s aesthetics with its help the author opposes the art to common sense and the author is present in the work as Magister ludi and tends to show the power over the text. The study showed that Nabokov`s novel corresponds to modernism and postmodernism game`s strategy according to which the artist should dismiss all serious and aesthetic and in the game to create works of art intentionally.
