Abstract
The article presents the aspect of communicative failures as the method of creating comic effect in the process of dialogic communication and as the method of forming speakers’ speech portraits. The research is based on the novels and the short stories written by P.G.Wodehouse. The article also presents the classification of communicative failures caused by speakers’ constant or variable personal characteristics and a lack of encyclopedic or linguistic competence.
