AbstractIt is shown that the pressure cannot and does not serve as a parameter of state of matter. Volumetric energy density is this parameter that is essential for macrophysics. It is emphasized that only volumetric thermodynamic quantities reveal the periodicity properties of chemical elements and compounds in accordance with the periodic law of D.I. Mendeleev. The using a volumetric energy density as the state parameter showed that Clapeyron equation has a simple meaning: energy equals energy.
